Spacebar Press is the imprint I created to publish my own books. It's also the name of the studio that handles all of this for authors who want to turn a manuscript into a published book and launch it well.

Work with me to take the manuscript the rest of the way as your developmental and line editor. I make sure it gets properly copyedited, proofread, designed, and typeset. You own the ISBN and the rights, and the book comes out under your name and your own imprint.

How the work runs

Manuscript to book

  1. Developmental edit or, for drafts that came together with AI, voice restoration
  2. Line edit
  3. Copyedit
  4. Proofread
  5. Interior design and typesetting, print and ebook
  6. Cover design
  7. ISBN, metadata, and setup for print-on-demand and ebook distribution, ending in live marketplace listings

Manuscript to market

  1. Back cover and catalog description
  2. Author bio
  3. Press kit
  4. Launch

What it costs

Every book is priced as a flat fee after we've talked and I've read the manuscript. Most range between $9,000 and $15,000 in total, depending on length, how much editing the draft needs, and whether it's illustrated. Payment comes in phases to match the work being delivered: the editorial work comes first, and production follows on a schedule we set together. You'll have full visibility and weigh in at each stage on the cover, the layout, and your goals for the book after it's published.
